stacey's page

hello again. while the outward appearance of this site may not be much different, much has changed in the life of stacey. i'm content. yup, you read that correctly. it's been a while coming [see past updates for proof], but life is good. very good.

here's a quick summary, if you are interested:

  • website: newer, happier tone. yay! oh, and here is the ubiquitous link to my resume and some samples of my techpubs writing.

  • life: sharing life with the "fling" from new year's 2000. even after three months traveling around europe together, he still wasn't frightened off. in fact, he signed up for a longer term of duty, and we have a great house in the belmont hills of the san francisco bay area [for those of you in the area who understand what that means]. i was lucky to find him, and the timing was good: i had already come through some interesting times, and survived, so was in the perfect place to meet someone like him. life. sometimes it can surprise you.

ah, sloth. a year plus of voluntary unemployment. i highly recommend. but soon, i rejoin the working world, and stop being a lazy bum and once again become a valued, contributing member of society. and even better, it's working for a manager i greatly respect and like. not too shabby.

<insert game show voice> a new car!! yup, i've ordered a new car. a MINI cooper, if that means anything to you. formerly available only in the UK, now being sold in the US by BMW [acronyms galore!!]. you can check them out and design your own at http://www.miniusa.com. the latest status of my order can be seen here. can't wait...

been traveling. nothing as extravagant as as the europe trip, but fun. vegas. road trip to reno. flying out to see parents, both his and mine, which was a blast and went very well. driving from belmont to vegas [again], then vegas to hoover dam, then to see steven's grandmother near phoenix arizona [another really good visit], then to san bernadino and a wonderful drive up the coast highway to get home. exhausting, but a great way to get around. and another road trip coming once i get my new car.

new eyes! got lasik in both eyes, and love it. big, big kudos to my optometrist, dr. karin meng, and my surgeon, dr. mark mandel for a job well done. the surgery was quick, surprisingly painless, and gave great results [20/20 in both eyes!], and the cooperative care with my optometrist is wonderfully thorough and conscientious. the pre- and post-op care has come lightyears, and my experience has been incredible. i'm loving my new eyes.

  • (...takes a breath...) more to be told, but those are the highlights. new love, new job, new eyes, new car, new house. nothing like taking baby steps, eh?? <g>

hope you found this amusing/informative...thanks for stopping by, and feel free to drop me a line.

    take care --
